SBGOM passed all the requirements
to be certified to ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System. This was achieved basically with the full support of Engineer Mohammad Zarie, the Chief Executive Officer of SBGOM. It is clear that lot of organizations in the Saudi market started to feel the necessity to change so as to cope with the surrounding circumstances, hence to build its strategic goals in order to face the risks and threads in order to retain its competitive edge. What can help in achieving this is the safety and good health of the labor force and the safety of the client assets. The only way to do this is to build a robust internal management system based in occupational Health abs Safety keeping an environment free of pollution.
The purpose of ISO 14001:2015 Standard is to provide organizations with a framework to protect the environment and respond to changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-econimic needs. It specifies requirements that enable an organization to achieve the intended outcomes it sets for its environmental management system, protecting the environment by preventing or mitigating adverse environmental impacts;
The purpose of an ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety management system is to provide a framework for managing OH&S risks and opportunities. The aim and intended outcomes of the OH&S management system are to prevent work related injury and ill health to workers and to provide safe and healthy workplaces; consequently, it is critically important for the organization to eliminate hazards and minimize OH&S risks by taking effective preventive and protective measures. When these measures are applied by the organization through its OH&S management system, they improve its OH&S performance.
Importance of Applying these ISO Standards
The above clearly emphasizes the importance of applying these management systems in Saudi Binladin Group Operation & Maintenance division according to what suits the nature of the services that the division provides.
The two management systems of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 are considered of the most widely used management systems and this is because its susceptibility to apply to all organizations and companies whatever its activities are, or whatever its size.
In all these cases, the application of the management system will upgrade the services provided and increase the level of awareness of the employees in the field of occupational health and safety and keeping an environment free of pollution.
What SBGOM has achieved indicates the mentality of the new management to transform the division into higher level of the services it provides in order to get more client sanctification and better reputation in the field of operation and maintenance.
